Suzy Azariah - Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in Mt Albert, Auckland

Welcome.

I offer Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Brief Psychoanalytic Therapy and Psychodynamic Counselling for adults, couples and young people aged 14 to 25, in Mount Albert, Auckland.

You may be finding it difficult to -

  • Feel confident and hopeful
  • Manage stress and anxiety
  • Cope with extreme feelings
  • Feel secure and content in life
  • Work through uncertainty or challenge
  • Feel satisfied with relationships
  • Deal with a bereavement or loss

I provide a confidential and non-judgemental setting to which you can bring your feelings and thoughts. The aim is to learn to think and experience in new ways, together with a therapist trained to listen, observe and help you to understand. This approach can facilitate a deep level of support and challenge in the sessions, from which shifts and change can be created in your life.

You may have tried other interventions or therapy and felt that you did not get to understand or shift the underlying issues. You may be seeking help with emotional distress, anxiety, depression, relationship or family problems, parenting, issues related to identity, sexual and gender diversity, self-destructive patterns, trauma, childhood abuse or health-related and body issues. You may be struggling with uncertainty or discontent about your life and relationships.

Brief psychoanalytic therapy can be useful as a short-term consultation, for gaining an overview and insight into current struggles and how these may have developed. This can bring relief and increased clarity about what might be needed to move on in life.  Psychodynamic counselling may be useful to identify and focus on a specific issue or area of life.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy can help you to...

  • Gain self-esteem through understanding yourself
  • Face trauma and gain self-acceptance
  • Look after your needs and feel more connected to others
  • Find hope and meaning in life’s experiences
  • Move on and make better choices
  • Find contentment

Becoming who we are as an individual often leads us into areas of uncertainty or fear. The therapeutic setting allows insight to be gained into ourselves and our connections to others, as well as working through anxieties and inner conflict.

The therapeutic process can gradually facilitate the loosening of rigid patterns and defences and can bring the possibility of moving forward and developing emotionally and psychologically.
